Taylor Cheski (pronounced chess-key) is an Advanced Graduate Trainee at UR CAPS. She is entering her second training year with CAPS as a Resident in Counseling. She received her Masters in Counselor Education with a specialization in College Counseling and Student Affairs from Virginia Commonwealth University in the Spring of 2025. Prior to this she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Christopher Newport University in May 2022. Taylor uses an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and person-centered approach in counseling. These approaches rely heavily on showing empathy and compassion for clients, identifying values, and building a strong therapeutic alliance. Her clinical interests include anxiety, identity development, building relationships, and grief/loss.
Taylor is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA). She spends her free time running, attending live music shows, going on walks in the Fan District, and hanging out with her cats, Mushroom and Strawberry!
