Profile
Rhoda Aforkor Quaye is a doctoral student in Clinical Health Psychology at Virginia State University. She earned an M.Phil. in Counseling Psychology and a B.A. in Psychology and Theatre Arts from the University of Ghana. Her clinical training has included providing individual and group psychotherapy, psychological assessment, crisis support, and other psychological services in hospital, school, and community settings.
Rhoda takes an integrative approach to therapy and recognizes that each person brings unique experiences, relationships, cultural backgrounds, and ways of coping into the therapeutic space. Her clinical interests include trauma, relationships, emotional well-being, and coping, with a particular interest in how experiences across the lifespan can shape how people understand themselves, connect with others, and respond to difficult situations. She strives to create a therapeutic environment grounded in empathy, openness, collaboration, and respect, where clients feel supported in exploring their experiences, recognizing their strengths, and working toward meaningful change.
Rhoda has always been curious about the experiences behind people’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Her academic, research, and clinical experiences have deepened this interest and shaped her appreciation for understanding people not only as individuals but also within the relationships, cultures, and environments that are important to their lives.
