Profile

Dr. LeViness earned a B.A. in Biology from Brown University, and an M.A. in Counseling and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Boston College.  He worked for 10 years at Tulane University (4 years as a staff psychologist; 6 years as director of Tulane’s counseling center. 

Since 2002 he has been the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at UR.  Dr. LeViness is currently on the national board of directors of the Association of University and College Counseling Center Directors (AUCCCD), and serves as the coordinator of the annual AUCCCD Director Survey.  Dr. LeViness also serves on the advisory board of the Center for Collegiate Mental Health (CCMH). 

His interests include college student mental health trends, threat assessment, positive psychology, well-being and thriving.  He also enjoys working out, studying the Czech language, and playing the bass guitar!
