Dr. LeViness earned a B.A. in Biology from Brown University, and an M.A. in Counseling and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Boston College. He worked for 10 years at Tulane University (4 years as a staff psychologist; 6 years as director of Tulane’s counseling center.
Since 2002 he has been the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at UR. From 2017-2020 Dr. LeViness served on the national board of directors of the Association of University and College Counseling Center Directors (AUCCCD), and was the coordinator of the annual AUCCCD Director Survey. Dr. LeViness also served on the advisory board of the Center for Collegiate Mental Health (CCMH) from 2017-2020.
His interests include college student mental health trends, threat assessment, positive psychology, well-being and thriving. He also enjoys working out, studying the Czech language, and playing the bass guitar!
