Making an Appointment

To make an appointment, please visit the front desk staff in the CAPS office at 201 Richmond Hall (building "3b" to the right of Boatwright Library on the UR campus map). You will be given brief on-line and paper-and-pencil registration materials to fill out. Once you complete and hand in these materials, you will be given an appointment on a mutually convenient date and time. Unless the situation is an emergency, an appointment will be made for a later date, usually a few days after you first came in.

Requests for specific counselors will be respected as time and scheduling considerations permit. Appointments are scheduled on the hour in the morning and afternoons except at noon; usually the session lasts 50 minutes, but the time may vary with the circumstance. The content of counseling/therapy sessions, questionnaires and testing results, are treated as confidential information between you and your counselor (see Informed Consent and Privacy Notice for additional information).

Before or after your last appointment with CAPS, you may be asked to complete a brief anonymous service evaluation questionnaire in order to help us evaluate and improve our services.
